INK AND HAMMER PORTRAITS // DAYTON
This was my first ever “day in the life of” branding session.
Let me set the scene…it’s 2013 in a city I had never spent time it. I am pretty sure I wandered into their shop our of sheer curiosity and said hey I would love to spend the day with you all and snap a few photos of you all just BEING together. You seem cool. Anytime I’ve done that I never regret my decision. Trust your gut and talk to people. My time with the crew over at Ink and Hammer Manufacturing Company in Dayton really left me wanting more. MORE of small businesses getting their hands dirty. The real deal. Seeing them working together in the workshop, cutting up together and laughing at inside jokes while old records played over the welding and bike engines revving.
I remember thinking wow THIS is what I want to be doing…it was dreamy and something that didn’t have to be forced. Happenstance if you will. The natural light in the space, the antiques and tools, the smells of exhaust reminded me of my dad’s garage and took me back. Intentional storytelling through my imagery is what I’m striving for and what my team now strives for in our videography and photography. Let’s spend the day together and make memories. No overly posed stiff photos…I want to be a fly on the wall. Observing. Taking you and your scene in. Documenting you in your element. I live for that. Branding sessions & natural light portraits are my jam.
