BRENNA DAVIDSON // DALLAS
What are you STUDYING & what do you spend your time/energy on outside of school?
I'm majoring in Psychology with a minor in Advertising! I currently spend my free time working out, reading, going for walks, and listening to podcasts.
Do you feel like you have a pretty solid grasp on the direction you want your career to go in? Sometimes there's so much pressure to have it all figured out in college. Do you feel that pressure?
I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what direction I want to go in for my career but often find myself questioning if I should explore different paths as well. I definitely agree that there is a lot of pressure to have everything figured out in college. It makes me sad because the beauty of college is to figure out who you are and what you want to be.
What is something you wish you could go back and tell 18 year old Brenna to prep her for the past few years?
I would love to tell 18 year old Brenna to relax a little and have some more fun. I think a lot of kids get so caught up on going through the motions to get to the next big thing in life that they actually end up forgetting to enjoy the moment they're in.
How would you like to see the world differently in your lifetime?
I would love to see the world be a little more carefree. It feels like our life paths are mapped out early, and with so much pressure and stress, people often forget that our time on earth is fleeting.
Who is someone that inspires you & why?
My mom, without a doubt. When I was younger, I didn’t fully understand everything she did, but as I grew older, I began to realize she was juggling far more than I ever imagined. What inspires me most is her incredible ability to balance what feels like a million responsibilities, yet she always makes me her top priority. No matter how busy her day is, she is always there for me. I have no idea how she does it but I'm so proud of her.
What’s one song that defines where you're at in life & why?
If I had to pick a song that describes where I'm at in life right now, "Where You Are" by John Summit feels perfect. The lyrics' mix of searching and staying grounded feels a lot like how I approach life. There's a pull to go beyond the surface and be present, which is something I often have to remind myself.
I first met you back in 2015 when you were a mere child! It's been such a joy watching you grow up. I'm so freaking proud of you. Bonus that I've gotten to photograph some of your milestones. What felt different going into your senior portraits with me vs going into your headshot experience years later?
Going into these portraits made me feel so old—it's crazy how time flies! As I was walking up, I couldn't help but think about how young I was when I last had my pictures done. I remember going into my senior portraits in Dallas still curious on where I would even be going to college. Fast forward to today, and I find myself in a similar position, wondering what my career will look like after graduation next May. I think both times I was pretty nervous considering they were big milestones in my life that a left a lot of room for uncertainty. But, I also reminded myself of how far I'd come and all of the things I had experienced since that first nervous moment during senior portraits.
Why did you decide to book with SGS & what was the experience like?
I booked with SGS because Steph captures personality, not just pictures. I can always count on the photos turning out beautifully because she always ends up making me laugh. Nothing is forced, just pure, genuine happiness. Honestly, it doesn't even feel like a photoshoot but more so catching up with a good friend -- just with a camera present. I think my favorite moments are the unexpected ones. I don't think a single photoshoot has happened where we didn't create our own inside joke. 🖤
