VIRAL LOS ANGELES LESBIAN INDIAN WEDDING

Back in the summer of 2013, I had the honor of photographing this intimate wedding ceremony between Shannon and Seema at the SmogShoppe in Los Angeles. Little did I know at that time that it would spread around the world with the speed that only true love stories can. This viral lesbian Indian wedding not only captured widespread attention but also highlighted the significant importance of queer representation in society, particularly in the context of relationships during a period that preceded the historic passing of marriage equality in June 2015. This beautiful event underscores not only the cultural nuances surrounding love and acceptance but also the long-awaited recognition of LGBTQ+ rights within the diverse fabric of Indian society

I am incredibly lucky to have played a meaningful part in documenting the diverse experiences of queer love stories during such a pivotal moment in time. I will truly never take that opportunity for granted. So much progress has been made over the past decade, and yet we still have so much more love to share and celebrate within our communities.
